Tommy Newsom has died...

Johnny Carson used to pick on him a lot, due to his rather dull demeanor.

I still remember when Tommy admitted being a saxophone player in a strip club, and Johnny just about died laughing, especially when a viewer sent in a film of a stripper from that club, who took off her clothes in a tank of water.

1. One of my favorite Carson remarks about Tommy:

(paraphrase) "Tommy's looking pretty sharp tonight, he bought himself a bright gray suit."

The polar opposition of his style and Doc Severinsen's was classic.

12. Much over-looked...

was that he was a fine musician. Played with the Benny Goodman orchestra and won two Emmys for music direction (aside from his work on "The Tonight Show").
