Tell me what you think:
I'm at the end of my college career, and about to start graduate school. I've been attending college out of the country, but I always go home to Colorado at every opportunity. I've spent upwards of five months per year there during my college years, but with grad school approaching and the liklihood that my mom and dad will move to be closer to me on the east coast, this may be the last hurrah in Colorado for some time. So to top it off (literally), I think I'd like to hike the highest mountain in Colorado, Mt. Elbert. Here it is:
And the view from the top:
I think this would be an apprapos sendoff for my Colorado youth. I've already been atop Pike's Peak, but taking the train up there doesn't seem quite the same. Elbert is a nine mile roundtrip hike, and it probably wouldn't be the most difficult hike I've ever attempted. It certainly wouldn't be the longest. The only problem is that my best friend, a consumate outdoors guy, will probably not be around this summer. It would seem wierd to make this trek without him. Along with various other high school buddies, we've been all over the front range area and seen/done some pretty cool things. Hopefully he'll be able to squeeze this in, but likely not. Still, as long as I can find *someone* to go with (never hike alone), I'm pretty excited about this. What do you think?
