2. Agreed. Neither A nor B. |

My dad took my twin brother and me hunting a few times when we were teens. I would stand out there in the woods with a loaded shotgun from 6am until whenever the hell he decided it was time to go home, and even when I saw a deer I wouldn't shoot at it.

My step-mom makes the best smoked venison I've ever tasted, and has her own smoking shed behind my parents home.
Venison steaks are also pretty good, and are far more flavorful than beef. When I hunt (and I usually only take one deer a year), I typically have the animal professionally butchered into steaks, and smoke only a few of the less choice cuts. I don't end up with the best deer jerky (as my kids call it), but it's still very good. I've been trying to get my step-mom to hand over her recipe for years, but no avail. True venison aficionados guard their techniques with their lives.

Cows are cute too. As it happens, I have more respect for those who hunt their own meat than those who think meat comes from supermarkets. At least wild deer, boar, fowl, and rabbit get to live decent lives before being taken for food. Animals on commercial farms are destined to spend their lives in muddy pens or cramped cages, suffering with lousy food and an unending series of injections before finally being carted off to an undignified slaughter.
I have a great deal of respect for the animals I hunt, and for the fact that they live far more natural, humane lives before being taken.

10. Is butchering/processing included in B? |

Now that is where the real meat eaters shake out.

13. exactly, you really weed out the meat eaters when it's time to clean the beast |

I remember the first (and only) time I shot a deer. I had my face painted in deer blood in some kind of ritualistic display of sheer damn manly-ness. I did get to eat some of the animal that I had killed. Aside from that I felt like a boob for hiding in a tree stand from a dumb animal at 6AM in the morning.

18. I haven't ever shot a deer, but I butchered one once and I've eaten |
|
plenty of venison. I've butchered other stuff including the usual domestics so I appreciate the work involved. I'm not a hunter, but I could do it if I needed to.
