Have you ever watched "Bizarre Foods"?
It's hosted by a chef named Andrew Zimmern, and runs on The Travel Channel (right before Anthony Bourdain).

He eats stuff that makes me want to barf uncontrollably:

Deep fried chicken embryos - a favorite street snack in Manila, The Philippines.

Uok – a giant worm – cooked up at Balaw Balaw, a restaurant/art gallery in Angono, a city about 20 miles outside of Manila.

The "on a stick" version of grilled grubs, with yucca on the top. Protein and carbs, a nice full meal.

Dinner at the Djemaa El Fna in Marrakech – goat heads and a bowl of brains. Only members of the adventurous eaters club welcome.

Eating a hundred dollar plate of Angulas, or baby eels, at Casa Botin in Madrid. One of my favorite restaurants in the world.

Scorpion lollipops – a crowd favorite at La Boqueria in Barcelona.

Nothing like bagging a water rodent for lunch. Sterling Freyou took me on a hunt for Nutria in the backwaters of Louisiana.

2. I watched him once: the Moroccan trip. OMG! What a Puke-a-rama!
Edited on Tue May-01-07 03:18 PM by CottonBear
The only thing that I saw that made him barf was some sort of tropical fruit which was sort of big like a breadfruit and grew in a tree. He took one bite a spit it out on the ground and looked like he was going to puke.

No freaking way wouod I eat any of that stuff. No way. :puke:

:hi: Hi CW! :hi:

12. The weird part is that durian isn't *that* bad. I've had it. I didn't love it but it
didn't make me sick or anything. Some of the other stuff that he eats (and thoroughly enjoys) is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay grosser.

25. grilled
he was in Ecuador, and apparently grilled guinea pig is a delicacy there.

they've been eating it for hundreds of years.

Now back to those grouper throats, and mullet gizzards, tongue and chitlins. That was the Gulf Coast, last week. Before that Mr. Zimmern went to Ecuador, where he ingested guinea pig (“absolutely fall-off-the-bone delicious”), “lemony tasting” live ants in the rain forest and grubs, served on banana leaves at a family feast.

What could be more fun? He's so everything that Rachel Ray isn't!

The best was when he ate a beating heart just cut out of a little frog. Wow.

6. No.
I've got no problem with Tony Bourdain visiting Vietnam and having duck embryo, but I've got no interest in watching people eating freakish foods just for its own sake.

I guess I watched the "non-puke" inducing ones. I think he was in Equador-lots of strange veggies with grubs. Didn't look too bad.....

28. "Ate" a half of a lamb's head once. In Rome.
The restaurant had a 'help yourself' antipasto table.
Featured was half lamb's heads, split down the middle, nose to neck.
Little teeth, tongue stickin' out, and the eyeball lookin' atcha.
I was 'showing off' for one of our flight attendants.
And NO, I didn't 'score'.
;-)
