Driftwood horses (DIALUP WARNING)
These ladies build horses out of scrap driftwood they find...

Not only are they beautiful but they are using what Mother Nature has left behind to create another form of art...

10. I saw those "in person" at a museum exhibition last year!
They were absolutely breathtaking.

BTW, I saw you on Jeopardy! YOU WERE AWESOME!!! :bounce:

20. You're very lucky. Which museum?
I especially like the last picture, but considering what the horses were made from, they look remarkably alive. There's such movement in them. It almost feels like they could walk right up to you.

Thanks for the Jeopardy! nod. Now if only I could translate my appearance into a job somewhere -- not that I really feel like working in an office again, since I hate having a boss...

29. Norton Museum of Art
in West Palm Beach, FL. They are also really striking in person because they are HUGE.

Being on Jeopardy! (and being a champion!) is an incredible thing to put on a resume! Who wouldn't want to hire you? :)

33. I'd love to see them up close.
Are they a permanent installation? When the J! money comes in, maybe I should take a jaunt down to West Palm Beach.

You'd be surprised how little ice Jeopardy! cuts with prospective employers. Maybe they're afraid I'll have a huge head and won't listen to them.

34. No, they were only there a month or so.
I wish I could see them again.

I guess the Jeopardy thing intimidates employers because you can PROVE you really are smarter than they are.

I remember you said on the show that you liked to correct public signs that were misspelled, and I had to laugh because that's my pet peeve too!!

28. You see these horses as you leave the Portland Ore. airport (PDX):
Edited on Wed May-02-07 09:32 PM by Oregonian

Deborah Butterfield horse sculptures, Portland International Airport. Left side, view from car, rainy day. Image taken October 23, 2006.

Sculpture on the left is "Lyon", created in 1995, cast bronze, 91 x 112 x 30 inches. Scupture on the right is "Princess Pine", created in 1995, cast bronze, 83 x 104 x 29 inches.

Different material, but the effect is similar.
