Tom Poston is dead at 85
from IMDB.com:

Tom Poston, the Emmy award-winning actor who played comic sidekicks to a number of TV stars, most notably Bob Newhart, Robin Williams, and Steve Allen, died Monday night at his home in Los Angeles; he was 85. Poston, who was married to actress Suzanne Pleshette, passed away after a brief illness, the nature of which was not initially disclosed. Before venturing into television, Poston made his Broadway debut in 1947 in the acclaimed production of Cyrano de Bergerac starring Jose Ferrer, and assayed a number of dramatic roles onstage. In the mid-1950s he was selected by Steve Allen to appear as a recurring character in a number of man-on-the-street comic sketches on The Steve Allen Show, and he won an Emmy for the part in 1959. Poston worked almost exclusively in television throughout his career, occasionally taking the small film role, and appeared on Get Smart and The Bob Newhart Show, among other sitcoms.

3. Geez,, we're losing another actor from the really old game shows.
Just recently lost Kitty Carlisle, now Tom Poston. I always associate them with those old game shows that I watched when I was real little, "To Tell the Truth," "What's My Line," etc.

I didn't know he was married to Suzanne Pleshette. Somehow, I always thought of him as much older than her. Though he is one of those people who I always thought of as an old guy, over a span of 40 years!

6. I ate his after-dinner mints

He was the immediate neighbor of my inlaws in Beverly Hills. One time my SIL was looking after their dog and we went over to feed the wee thing -- she (my SIL) was a Beverly Hills brat, at the time, who thought nothing of getting into his supply of yummy after-dinner mints (chocolate covered), and I helped her dispatch them. :D

I knew him most from Mork and Mindy but I met him a couple of times at my inlaws'. He was truly a nice man.

RIP, Mr Poston...
