1. I love it when I'm in earshot of people watching commercials for HDTV
on regular TVs and one of them invariably says "Wow, it's so clear!"

3. I fully realize I may be slapped for saying this..............
however when I have seen commercials for HDTV on a 'regular' set, the images are of a higher quality than those produced by SD.

Slap away.

6. actually you may be right
one thing they do in HDTV ads is to use a lower resolution in the surrounding image, to increase the difference you see, and make you think it's clearer.

Also, since it's a commercial, they have the time and resources to clean up all the noise, and shoot the ad in the higest resolution possible, so it will appear better than broadcast TV.

5. Kinda Like Those BOSE Wave Radio Ads That You Hear...
... on REGULAR radios.

Oooh! Yes! I caa-a-a-an tell a difference. Ni-i-ice! Wow! I'll have to get me one of those.

However... $499 is a bit much for a dresser-top radio... IMO.

-- Allen

P.S. You don't think the commercial producers INTENTIONALLY modify the "regular" example to sound like it's coming out of a tin horn megaphone do you?
