Bon Jovi on American Idol
Edited on Wed May-02-07 10:33 AM by undeterred
If you hate the show, just hide the thread and shut up.

Will Bon Jovi never stop being that adorable guy that EVERY GIRL wants to go out with? I can't believe how sweet and cute he still is. Amazingly, I've never been much into his music. He will perform tonight. Can't wait.

2. I thought he was a great coach
Wasn't able to do much for Jordin, but I liked his comments, and his honesty about his squeamishness over Blake's interpretation.

3. Blake was brave and it was not too bad
If he could do that in a couple of days, imagine what he could do if he had a couple months to work on it. I think he is the most creative one in the bunch by a long shot. I always look forward to his performances because I never know quite what to expect, but I've never been disappointed.

7. Depends how people vote
Her performance was lousy last night because the song didn't fit the range of her voice and she looked like crap. She's not a rocker. Neither is Melinda, really. Depends whether people vote on the basis of the person they generally like the best or how the performance went last night. And tonight they're taking two people off.

My guess would be Blake and Melinda are safe, any of the other 4 could go.

Bon Jovi songs are pretty difficult to sing.

25. I think Melinda did ok...
though it was one of her weakest performances...she was still better than at least half of the rest...

I had begun to think Blake might go home, as he had a couple shaky weeks recently...but last night, he did well.

Jordin...she's usually one of the best, but just couldn't adjust to the "rock" genre, and it was the worst performance of the night.

Whether she's in trouble depends on how they do the eliminations...if they COMBINE the 2 weeks' scores, I think she'll squeak through...if they eliminate the worst from last week AND the worst from this week...then she's in trouble for this week's elimination. I just don't recall if they said whether they're combining the votes or not.

27. It just isn't in Melinda to say

"Have a nice day" and not mean it! She is a really sweet woman. This type of music just does not fir her. Blake is awesome.

8. I like Bon Jovi
Especially his old stuff. Not afraid to admit it. I was a little disappointed in the attempts to rock out to his songs last night, but that's a testament to his own personality.

9. I think that he's actually
a musician who knows something about music, a real person, and a nice guy who cares about other people. You don't always get that in a rock star.

18. Good show
I think Bon Jovi was my favorite mentor so far. He didn't seem above it all or offer too much condescending advice.

14. Or vice-versa?
Critics have called this dude and his band "derivative". I do like some of his songs, but the "D"-word has some relevance.

At least it's not Britney or Jessica doing the show, though they seem more... appropriate.

15. s'ok
I like both, and the show gets better as the season goes on.

I can see why people who don't watch it don't understand this, but some of the constestants really have a lot of talent, and all of them really do improve markedly through the season. I think that's what's exciting, is knowing that this is a chance for people to get started at something. For this kind of career, you need a little help.

26. I haven't noticed a lot of improvement over the season...
but then, I think it's hard to see when it happens.

I've been watching "American Idol Rewind" on late-night TV on the weekends (pathetic, I know, but it's the best thing on network TV at that time of night  ) and I was surprised to see that in the first season, Kelly Clarkson started out kind of...average, but in the last few weeks, she got to a point where she was blowing away most of the rest of them. The evolution was very clear...though I don't remember seeing it back during the original broadcasts.

30. Kelly had a good voice from the beginning
but her 'performance' evolved. The shocker of the first season was that Tamara Gray was cut before Nikki and Justin- one could easily make the argument that she had as good a voice as Kelly Clarkson or better. She's had a little bit of a career since then, but damn, that was a shocker when she got cut and Nikki didn't. She's got a fabulous voice.

I think you will still see the 'performance' improve in these last few weeks. Part of that is when they start getting to pick the songs that suit their voice range and personality. Some of the theme weeks they put these people through are really crap.

17. Bon Jovi is to rock music
what American Idol is to a serious singing competition.

They fit together so well.

this is a link to an Arizona RTL page that has a photo of her singing.

votefortheworst said her myspace page had that photo you were talking about on it, but I wasn't able to access it right now.

22. I hadn't heard that

but she isn't someone I'd hoped would get this far. She has a nice, but uninteresting voice and I don't think she's nearly in the league of the rest of the contestants. I think she and Chris will get dumped this week.

Phil is the most surprising one. He isn't much to look at, but close your eyes, and he has a very powerful voice. I think he is most improved over the competition.

28. I don't agree...
I don't really know anything about her politics...but, I've felt she's been one of the stronger contestants, voice-wise. I'd been thinking that the top 2 are Melinda and LaKisha, with Jordin just below them...and the guys behind.

Phil, I think, has either suddenly improved, or...and I think this is likely, he's fit in better with the genres of the last few weeks, particularly the country week, and has picked songs that work well for him.

I'm not really impressed with the singing of any of the guys.
