what was the last thing that you stole?
me, it was this convenience store clerk's heart.

i watched her swoon when i peeled a c-note off a "gangster roll" ($100 bill on top, lower denominations below it) and said, "there's more where that came from darlin'.

3. A salt shaker from the Cafe in our office building
I don't know if it's really stealing when I told them I was taking it and they said I could....Maybe I've become a goody two-shoes as I've gotten older

9. A resume-writing book...
...from one of the big bookstore chains I used to work for. They "restructured" and cut everyone's pay. I decided that enough was enough. The book came in handy and I did find a better paying job.

10. A carton of Marlboros about 35 years ago
As a teenager I had an ever escalating habit of lifting whatever I wanted, that eventually involved anything that wasn't nailed down. I finally got caught. I got off with a call to my parents to come get me and a slap on the wrist - I was not booked. But I never did it again.

11. A roll of toilet paper from my employer
about 20 years ago. The paychecks were bouncing and were impossible to cash. I stuck it out for a couple of months before I got sick of not getting paid. It was a dinner theater and we got to eat for free, but no money for cigs, gas, etc.

13. some bracelets from Claire's
i'd done the same thing successfully numerous times- that time i wasn't so lucky. i got arrested, and was fortunate enough to have the option of 'diversion'. so i (ok, my mom) paid a $220 fine and i had to go to some court ordered class for shoplifters. never shoplifted again.
