I need to ask a seamstress a question. |

I have a question about sewing a dress that I am about to cut out. I am cutting it out on the bias, but it isn't the true, 45 degree angle because the fabric is only 44-45" wide. I had to angle the bias back a little to get the length I want.
Anything special I should know? Should I back off cutting it out this way since the "give" isn't truly vertical and just cut it out along with the regular lay of the fabric? The fabric is a cotton pique, lovely indigo faux silkscreen design on white.

1. You may want to post this in the crafts forum |

there are a lot of people who sew in there.
I am a novice so I cannot answer your question.

The best way is to bite the bullet and buy extra fabric since the degree really does make the draping of the dress, Is your fabric a solid color or a print? Prints can look really nuts if you use the wrong bias angle.
Edit: Please note this is from my sister, who is sitting here using my computer. I can pass on any queries to her if any are submitted after she leaves.

4. You're right. The dress may hang funny if it's cut this way. |
|
If you're going to all the trouble to make it, buy the extra fabric so it will look nice when you're done. :)
