movie review--Spiderman 3
My kingdom for an editor! Spiderman may save NYC, but editors save movies...it could be a good movie if it were re-cut, here and there.

Aside from editing, the story loses the chance to emotionally connect the characters in any deeper way than displaying the play of competing egos. Underlying it all is a strong play on 9-11, people falling out of buildings, rubble crashing, 'the sandman' monster, can you say al quaeda?and the black 'stuff' --the dark side--Cheney's influence, no doubt.

In all not a bad movie but if your going to see spiderman's dark side, be warned, you will only find a sweetened syrupy version of a spiderman who gets bad... by eating cookies.

2. Haven't seen it yet, but plan to. . . .just as an FYI, the "black stuff"
is a carry over from a story line in the comics from the 80's. The Sandman is also from the comics (beginning, according to Wikipedia, as early as 1963).

3. Yes, the "black stuff" is from the "Secret Wars" miniseries
A bunch of super heroes & villains went to an alternate world for some big showdown (alternate earth maybe - I don't recall exactly because it's been almost 20 years) It was primarily an excuse to put a bunch of the heroes together so fans of just one comic hero/group would buy something else...

In the process of fighting these Secret Wars, Spidey's old costume got torn to shreds, and he found the "black stuff" costume. However, his slide into a cocky bad-ass evil guy took many months & issues in the comic. Eventually, he started becoming more aggressive and a bit ruthless when he got rid of the costume... where it found Eddie Brock and it became Venom.

And, yes Sandman has been around over 40 years in the comic books.

10. The Green Goblin is seen in flashback, voice over, and talking out of
a rather realistic painting!

Dr. Oct is not in it at all.

a feel good movie that is just fun to watch. i went to a midnight showing of it last night.

in my opinion there in absolutely NO political messages in the movie. i think you are reading to deep into them movie. afterall this one was based off of the comic series that was written years before bush and cheney got into office. then again the great thing about movies is that each person can read into them as much as they want.

fun movie, not as good as the first two, but still worth the ticket price.
