4-year old solves TV remote problem.
Edited on Thu May-03-07 04:53 PM by trof
My daughter's TV needs about a half dozen remotes to operate.
1 for the TV and 1 for the Tivo and 1 for the VCR and 1 for the DVD player, and 1 for the audio and 1 for the cable box and...well...you get it.

When we visit I'm always the first one up.
I go down and start the coffee and then go try and catch some news before Jack comes down and wants to watch Sponge Bob.

If they were just watching cable when they went to bed (long after me) then I can turn the TV on and change channels.
If they were watching Tivo or a tape or DVD then it's some kind of godawfully complicated process of turning something on (or off?) so you can then press 'this' button to get back to just plain ol' cable.
Anyway, it's beyond this geezer's capabilities.

Usually if I can't get it to work I just take my coffee out in the backyard to have a smoke and listen to NPR on my little portable.

This morning I'm still futzing with the remotes when Jack comes down.
"Baba (that's me), I wanna see Sponge Bob."
"Jack, if I can get the damned TV to turn on we'll both watch Sponge Bob."
"Here, Baba."
And this little 4 year old kid walks over to the TV, sticks out his little index finger, and pokes the 'power' switch.
TV comes on.

Ahhh jeez.

2. Not yet. Here's the story so far...
She was on total bed rest for a week.
If it was to continue, we were ready to come last Monday.
They sprung her, so now it looks like we'll come around the 20th.
Girl-child-yet-to-be-named is due 25th, 26th, or 29th depending on which 'authority' you listen to.
Predicting date of birth apparently not exact science yet.

4. My dad had to get on the roof to move the antenna if we wanted to watch this ONE channel
Eventually he hooked up something automatic to it so we just moved the 4" knob inside and waited for it to change directions.

"Dad Dad Dad Dad I wanna watch channel 20 please please please!"
