LIVID doesn't even begin to explain it!!!!! My new neighbor hit my dogs with a shovel!!!!
My 2 male dogs fight with each other on occasion. His dogs were at the fence barking. My dogs get weird around other dogs. They begin fighting one another. It never lasts long and then they are best friends. I just try to get my littlest dog out of the way when they do fight. He comes over to the fence with a shovel. Leans over the fence and with the metal part proceeds to beat my dogs on the back and head with the shovel. I thought I was going to explode. Of course that made the fighting worse. I told him NEVER touch my dogs again and he said he would let them kill me! WTF? I have had these dogs long enough. I know their behavior. They only get aggressive with one another. Luckily, my dogs are fine. At least they seem fine right now!

What a way to introduce yourself bastard.

5. I'm serious, call them!
One incident like that should tell you more than you need to know...Better to do that now than to end up with a dead dog or two. I don't mean to be harsh, but I love dogs so much, and you can't stand for that! :(

again,

11. Exactly. The fact that he reached ACROSS YOUR FENCE and INTO YOUR YARD
Is incredibly disturbing. Those dogs in no way presented any danger to him (or anyone else). He trespassed, and then he abused your animals. Call the police.

Seriously, Shell, this will only get worse...you need to go ahead and let the police handle it, so that you don't have to worry about that fucker doing anything to your dogs again.

At the very least, you should get a police report filled out, on the record, so that, if he does some such shit again, you've got proof that he did it before.

I would become unmanageable if someone fucked with my dogs. Maybe your husband can make it crystal-clear to him that that shit don't float.

8. Call the cops now, before he calls and makes a complaint about your dogs.
If he calls, he'll probably say they attacked him or some stupid thing. First to report generally is believed.

37. My two dogs ( Both neutered males) will go at it with growls and squeals,
then both stop abruptly to make sure that no on eis running a can opener. Other times it's as if they've heard a bell; they stop in place, look around, catch their breath and go right back at it.They will roll around and thump the side of the house so hard the wall shakes. Neither has ever drawn one drop of blood from the other. It's just what dogs do. Cats do the same thing, but they are more quiet about it. A playful kitten is actually practicing the moves that will turn it in to a rodent killing machine.

38. And this guy is a dog owner. He has 2 small dogs.
I understand seeing 2 large dogs fighting would be intimidating. I don't understand, however, that thinking beating them with a shovel could help anything. And thinking it is okay to beat a dog with a shovel, much less someone else's dog that is kept within their yard hurting not a soul.

51. Play fighting is one of the things dogs do
I'm sorry you got a red moran for a new neighbor :( My dogs are both female and they do the play fights. You can totally tell by their posture that it's not the real thing. When they're tired out they snuggle up and take a nap together.

ShellBeau, I agree that you need to file a report on this even if all it does is establishes a record. I called the cops when my former neighbors randomly dumped a bucket of water (over the top of a 6 foot fence) onto my dog's head for laughs. Bunch of little boys who had in the past thrown matchbox cars and stuff at her. I'm shaking when I think about this, I can't imagine how livid you must be. I called the police because I felt that they were developing a pattern of abuse and the mom didn't supervise them and didn't seem to take it seriously when I told her. I honestly was worried what would happen when this pack of wild boys hit puberty. I'm SO glad I moved.
