memory card question

I just bought a 4GB SD memory card for my camera made by Connect3D. The camera is a Kodak Easyshare C875. When I put the card in the screen says cards must be formatted. When I try to format the card it does nothing then it says I need to format the card. Is the card too big for the camera. Kodak has no info on their site. I bought the card from Woot.com for $20 so even if I can't use it in the camera it will work in my Palm T/X.
