30. Hi Peggy. Did you see these images, shot during Spider-Man 3 NYC street scene last year?

We stayed at the Hilton Manhattan Club at Sixth Avenue and 54th Street. One block north was the crew... the street was essentially closed on Sat., Sun., Mon. On Tuesday, everything was cleaned up and the building was ready for business!

This scene appears in the new Spider-Man 3. Pretty interesting to see the crew out on the street for three days Memorial Day weekend 2006.

I lived in NYC for 10 years, and while I wouldn't move back for a mllion $$ (real estate is atrocious) I go back to visit whenever I can.

Make sure to get your friends take you to Canal Street (Chinatown and what's left of Little Italy) but only in the daytime. See stores selling food that you'd never recognize, because it's not sold anywhere else in the country; peruse the street stalls with the fake Rolexes and Louis Vuitton luggage (the watches do work. Not so sure about the luggage, and remember that all prices are negotiable) and grab some dim sum at a Chinese eatery your buddies are most sure won't get you food poisoning.

Maybe they'll let you stay at their place late some night, and let you watch NYC public access cable TV on their residential hookups, where you'll see things no hotel in NYC offers on their in-house systems because it would shock the average tourist. Anarchists, communists, nude talk shows, interviews with strippers (complete with ads for, um, massage parlors), avant garde plays that will probably never see the lights of even an off-off-off Broadway theater, and other such unique and bizarre offerings. Make sure to watch them drunk. They can be hilarious when you're really inebriated or stoned.

And don't be intimidated by the subways. The stations still smell like old urine and rat droppings, but thanks to Mayor Bloomberg, and his predecessors Giuliani and Dinkins, they're much cleaner and safer than they were in the 1980s, and will get you where you want to go faster than any taxi.

I hope you consider these tips from a complete stranger and New York expatriate who now lives in Atlanta, and who envys you for the opportunity to enjoy the world's greatest city.. Can't you tell? Bon appetit!!
