Have you ever been at the helm of a ship?
I am at the helm of a ship. Sometimes, that's what I feel like with my company.

I am about to make a decision, and do some work, that will change the life of my company. It will probably make me steer a much bigger ship. Of course, I am going to make the decision to make my ship bigger; it makes me more money, I'm not stupid. But, at the same time, it makes me the captain of a much bigger ship.

Of course I want this. Right?

1. No, unless you're talking in terms about being in control of one's life
I've never been at the helm. Not even in a lower management role. But I've never quite found my niche in life either. To tell whether you want your new opportunity or not I'd have to say trust your instincts. Listen to them.

2. more like the helm of a
junket, but not a ship.

:P

I don't know, I would think you would want it, if it's a good deal and good for your company, would it not be irresponsible not to go for it? Do you have a board that you report to? Shareholders?

3. Will it make for a better ship?
And will your bigger ship have a better, or at least larger (and able) crew to help with all the duties?

Will the larger ship, be a better ship for the crew?

I presume the answers are all "yes" and that you've already considered them; I know you're not in it just for the money.

Bigger ships are better able to navigate rough waters, so that should be a plus.

I think as long as you make sure you have good first officer(s?), you'll be fine.

Best wishes, and safe harbors for you my friend.
