Edited on Sat May-05-07 12:51 AM by ih8thegop
Often times I see someone with a shirt that says "Mount Pleasant Cross Country" or "Loy Norrix Cross Country," and then there is a "CC" with an arrow running through it. Any significance behind the arrow?

Which is odd, since I just brought it up in a faculty meeting yesterday. We were the honor guard at the front of the band for every parade. I was usually in charge of the American flag.

It made me sick to see the way the jocks were allowed to be kings of the school and torment the other students, also how one class was cancelled at least once a week for a Nuremberg Rally, uh, I mean, pep fest.

Sports were WAAAY out of control at my high school, and ironically, my school was always at or near the bottom of its league. They might as well have given up and paid some attention to academics. But that would have been un-American.

I studied, sang in the choir, and was in the class plays. I can still read, sing, and act. How many of those football and basketball players can still play a credible game?

I'm afraid I've never been good at any sport, and in school, I did everything humanly possible (including getting scarlet fever one year) to get out of gym class.

Although I will admit that despite that, I have always enjoyed swimming (it was just never in our school), hiking and the one thing I could do in high school was climb ropes (as long as they had the knots in them).

for football, basketball or anything else. One of my dreams was to go back and be able to make the high school football team. For a team literally out in the middle of nowhere they were good; damn good. When at the time their winning streak is broken it's the 5th longest win streak in the entire U.S. I'd say they know how to play a few downs.

Good guess though. They have a good program. We had the fortune to beat them for one of our state championships.

Yes it's great to be a Hawkeye HuskerDU!

80. Should have known it was Wapsie!
I remember the guys from Wapsie kicking our butts at flag football over by Hillcrest dorm in IC. It seemed like every kid from that school was a stud athlete.

Go Hawks my friend!

84. Yeah, when your regular-season opponents include Robert Gallery,
and all those studs from Aplington-Parkersburg with 5 players in the NFL you get plenty of practice.

Go Hawks my friend!

81. Do marching band or sitting on my behind count?

If I weren't so lazy, I probably would have wrestled. Maybe I would've run track or threw discus/shot put.

82. Crew in high school, volleyball and basketball in middle school
it was all a tremendous waste of time for me, as I am quite possibly the least athletic person on Earth. In my PE classes, I developed a real talent for finding ways not to participate.

83. Never played in school but I grew up playing baseball
and was better than average. I started at 9 playing at a field about a half-mile from my house called O.K. Harrison field (I have 8mm movies of my uncles on Opening Day in 1956 at the same field). I played shortstop and third base.

The coach at my high school was the pony league coach at a field on the other side of town. Needless to say, if you didn't play in HIS league, you didn't play on the team at MY high school.

88. I played little league basketball in middle school, but
never anything "official" until college, when I joined the rowing team. :loveya: I LOVED rowing and still miss it (had to quit last year because of a back injury that wouldn't heal properly x(). Great sport.

89. Football
3rd down reciever; I had the best hands on the team and didn't have a problem going over the middle, but I wasn't very fast so I didn't usually play on 1st down..

92. you didn't go both ways?
You seem like you have a defensive mentality. Like you'd rather hit a guy and make him blow snot bubbles than to even live. :)

93. Nah
I played special teams on the junior varsity b/c they really needed somebody who knew how to tackle, but I was strictly a receiver when I got to the varsity. I would have been a Larry Centers-type had I played in the NFL (which wouldn't have happened, obviously) catching screens out of the backfield and occasionally running the ball..

90. I wrestled and rode bulls
when I was younger I played just about everything though. Baseball, basketball, football.

In HS, though I concentrated on wrestling and rodeo. Pretty well decorated. I led the state in bull riding my sophomore year, from start to finish of the regular season.

Wrestling I was a two-time division champion, twice all-state as well (took second and third) was chosen to represent my state in an All-Star Cultural exchange trip to Bulgaria. I also was a two-time state freestyle State Champion.

96. I got a bull riding one
All my wrestling stuff is back home. I should digitize a few of my matches one of these days, none of my really good ones work anymore, effed up tape etc.

I wrestled from 98-112 in high school. Although in freestyle I wrestled higher. Like I won my last Big Sky State Games title at 125 lbs. I weighed like 120 though, I just didn't cut weight that week.

I'm coming out of retirement so I should have some new ones here in the next year or so. Looking to do some submission wrestling. I want to hit one big national tournament and prove to myself that I could have handled the big time then retire. :)
