TROY -- A man police say threatened fellow parishioners through e-mails -- spreading worry through a church and canceling last Sunday's services -- is in jail.
Roy Yaryan, 56, of Rochester Hills is in the Oakland County Jail in lieu of $750,000 bond on two counts of making a false report or threat of terrorism and two counts of using a computer to make the threats. The charges are felonies punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
The threats made for tense days at the Evanswood Church of God on East Square Lake Road, police said.
"We are all breathing a little easier around here today knowing the person they believe did this is in jail," said Pastor Jeremy Pastor of the non-denominational church.
The church put out a release Wednesday saying: "We view this as a time of healing for our congregation and the families involved" and referred all additional questions to the Troy Police Department because of the continuing investigation.

The author said he planned a Columbine- or Virginia Tech-type killing at Sunday services for the church's 130 members.
