First Vegetables from my garden.

I can’t wait until the tomatoes ripen which shouldn’t be that long from now.

2. Congrats!
Those look great! Ours just went in the ground over the past month so they are still little bitty sprouts right now.

3. I'm envious
We can't plant until the end of the month. We won't have that stuff until early July.

I'm anxious to get my hanging baskets, but if we go out and get them now we will be bringing them in nights. We had a light frost last night.

and the one night I forgot to take my seedlings back in. x(

They still seem alive though certainly looking worse for wear.

Doh!

8. It was of the light, glisteny variety
and the non killing type.

I looked out into my backyard and could see the frost sporadically on the grass (this was around 6:30) By the time I left for work at 8:30 it was much, much warmer.

My husband interviewed in Victor today. :hi: We are so hoping he gets this job. :bounce: The contractor he works for in East Rochester is going under. :( The only saving grace is they will keep him until they shut the doors.

5. Here's what I harvested this week

I grow fava beans as a winter cover crop and now it's time to claim the space for summer plants like squashes and cukes. I have a marathon fava harvesting session over two days and freeze most of the harvest.
Just finished blanching and peeling.

We're knee deep in lettuce and radishes too. Usually by now we can't grow them because it's too hot but we've had a very mild Spring.

9. I'll trade you. I won't have any squash for another month.
Favas fix a lot of nitrogen in the soil. The harvest is just bycatch.

12. Impressive

My zucchini is blooming, and there are small GREEN cherry tomatoes on the vines, but nothing

nearly as exciting as your veggies. You must have a super green thumb and great weather.

I'm green with envy. :-)

13. Thanks all.
My beloved husband (shade of my heart) of almost thirty years, arranged the squash and onions and took these pictures for me. This is his picture, in the watermelon patch last year. That’s a Moon and Stars melon.

This is one of our squash plants. I just love the flowers and the bees love them too.

14. Your veggies are beauties.
I am not so good at growing things so I try not to try.

But where we live the loquats are abunant and ripe. The fruit trees all blossomed beautifully then we had a huge wind storm and it broke my heart to see all the tiny fruits on the ground. We have plums, apricot, peach, nectarine and the avocados are always doing something.

Enjoy the fruit of your bounty.

15. oooo yummy how'd ya eat 'em?
they'd be good sauteed with a little olive oil and garlic.

We had our first green salad - the lettuces I planted are going to town! Need to eat salad three times a day.

May have the first tomatos in a week or so - there are some green ones on the way.

I need to get some other stuff planted. I want some cukes and maybe one zuchini. Planned to find a couple of artichokes but haven't seen any in my small town yet.
