1. Nooooooooooo! Not frozen yogurt!! |
|
I do not doubt that the combination of A&W and vanilla frozen yogurt is tasty. It is not, however, repeat not, a root beer float. A root beer float contains four ingredients: root beer (preferably A&W, and never diet), vanilla ice cream, a straw, and a spoon.
On the other hand, you are now free to come up with a catchy name for your frozen yogurt concoction. For instance, if I were to spike the classic with whatever booze was handy, that'd be a "Mardi Gras Float". :-)

She used to make them all the time when we lived together.

10. That doesn't sound too good. |
|
The lemon-lime flavor of the 7-UP wouldn't blend too well with the vanilla in the ice cream, I would guess. I think the flavor of Dr. Pepper blends perfectly with vanilla ice cream - especially when the ice cream melts a little and they swirl together.

We used to make 7-Up or ginger ale floats with sherbet.
Is a black cow another name for a root beer float or is that something different?

Thanks

I'm glad we're not the only ones who wondered about the combination of Guinness and ice cream. It seems like a great combo of tastes.

Only the scoop of vanilla ice cream in root beer does that.

Summer nights in the 1970's, watching (and being a bat boy for a couple of teams) Lakewood Major Softball at Madison Park under the lights at Usher Field. And yeah, having a Root Beer Float in the stands or in the dugout while watching Pyramid Cafe clobber Beef Corral-HNS in another slugfest. Those are some of my most vivid memories of my childhood.....

Saturday afternoon: The Old Man putting another wax job on his latest Chevy. Mom puttering around in the kitchen, "Stan's Polka Hour" courtesy WJR, Detroit, bouncing along on her radio. Bluejays in the backyard oak tree talkin' trash, the butterfly bushes rich with honey scent. Me on the front porch with my second long cold Vern float followed by burps that were answered by the tankers out in Saginaw Bay. Good times.
Oh to be young again in Michigan.
