I'm tired of coughing - it's been two months
I got a really bad flu two months ago and never really got over it. I've been coughing off and on ever since. Last week I ended up in emerge with pneumonia and they gave me Doxycycline and let me go. Last night I ended up there again and they gave me a Salbutomal inhaler and turned me loose again.

Does this ever end?

1. That sucks. I have a question for you.
Are you on any kind of medication? The reason I ask is that my BIL had the flu several months ago, but just couldn't get rid of the cough (he doesn't smoke, and isn't around smokers). He went to the doc, and the doc said, oh, it's the meds you are taking for your acid reflux. Doc changed the meds, and poof! The cough was gone.

Another thing it could be is allergies.

2. I've been wondering about allergies
Everybody's been coughing their guts out and blaming it on "snow mold", but that's all gone now.

However, the office still sounds like a sick ward.

3. That might be it, then.
I never had allergies until I reached my mid-20's. Now I have them. I cough a lot because of post nasal drip, but the OTC allergy meds I take stop it.

5. Damn.
Maybe you should talk to your doc about it. I know how freakin' irritating, mentally and physically, coughing like that can be.

18. Perhaps it's RSV
Edited on Sat May-05-07 02:30 AM by u4ic
A very nasty virus that had higher rates in Edmonton than in previous years.

I know a couple of people who got it, and had to go on antibiotics. Rinse, and repeat. (and in one particular case, repeat yet again).

I heard on cbc radio about this RSV, and how it took, for some, a few months to recover.

I hope the doxy helps you, and you'll be up and at 'em soon!

edit: Respiratory Syncytial Virus

20. It appears to be a children's disease
I'll bet it mutated.

Certainly some of the symptoms match up.
