Boxing isn't a sport
Not when both participants are left standing st the end. Split decisions, majority decisions, bah!

Then it becomes figure skating.

Discuss.

1. If you slip on some water and fall in the ring
it doesn't cost you any points. So, WAY easier than figure skating.

(until you get hit in the jaw in the middle of your triple-axel)

2. Always thought that.
10 rounds and then SOMEBODY ELSE decides who won?

Did you ever see "Raging Bull?" That scene when Lamotta beat his opponent almost to death in the last round, but lost the fight on POINTS so the had to hold the other guy up because he got "saved by the bell?"

Classic.

3. Just because Boom-Boom Mancini KILLED a guy in the ring
Geez, they've turned it into a wussy contest.

4. People die in football and auto racing too
but those contests aren't decided by a panel of judges.

The cynic in me says the split decision was intentional in order to set up a rematch.

5. Why don't you try getting in the ring
and see how hard it is. Boxing is a sport, imo.

6. Of course it's a sport.
Probably the most grueling sport there is. I cannot imagine, e.g., going 15 rounds with Muhammad Ali. Or George Foreman.

I think the OP was commenting more on the split decision between De La Hoya and Mayweather, ended up being decided by the judges.

7. Childbirth is hard
But no one's ever called it a sport. Of course, if men did it, it probably would be.
