The Monday I've been waiting for...billyskank day!

He very kindly offered to come to our hotel, and drive us into London for lunch!

We had a terrific visit, complete with wonderful food and stimulating talk! He is a really smart and lovely guy......

21. It was very wonderful to meet Peggy & her husband

who are both charming and wonderful people. Here they are, as I dropped them back at the hotel:



Alas, the day was marred when somebody ran into me while I was turning around, and did this to my car:



Now the driver's door does not shut properly (it scrapes when I open and close it), and it no longer fits in its frame. I can see sky through it and the rain gets in. Having talked about it with my brother, we fear that the insurance company may even decide it is too expensive to repair. Notice that the door sill is bent:



Fortunately nobody was hurt, as it was a low-speed crash.

I felt awful for you and your beautiful new car...as did my husband...

We still managed to have a great visit with you!

:hug: Don't worry about me. I am quite sanguine about the whole thing. I called the woman who hit me and we exchanged details, and then I called my insurance company to make the claim. They were very professional about it all, and the worst case is that they will charge me £400 excess and I'll lose 2 years no claims bonus. That's if they judge it to be my fault. I am not admitting liability. If they judge it to be her fault then I'll pay nothing and lose nothing. And I do have the bus driver's witness testimony that the other driver was talking on her mobile phone, that is an offence and I think it will count for something.
