IDEAS?! Mrs. V.'s work is SHIT right now. What can I do for her tonight?
Last week I took her out to dinner twice. Can't really afford that, financially and calorically, right now. But she appreciated it.

Flowers are out because the cats will eat them and knock them over.

She has several Hershey bars in the freezer, and three pints of strawberries at her disposal (if I'm lucky she might save one or two for me to have tonight). These are her comfort foods right now.

What can I do for her tonight to hearten her? The job is SO BAD right now, I fear there's nothing I can do for her.

Ideas?

1. When I'm having a stressful time at work, I like
a good book so I can disengage my brain from work when I get home and get lost in the book.

Would that help?

2. Yes - she has one.
Maybe we can spend the evening reading instead of immersing ourselves in Tivo. Thank you

3. How about a massage?
My husband likes it when I rub his feet and shoulders after work. It puts him in a better mood.

5. Being in her place at the moment
Just holding her while she rants, sobs, whatever might be most appreciated.

8. that's very good, MountainLaurel
We're fostering a litter of kittens, and I'm going to make it a point to get them on the bed with both of us every night. We did that several times on the weekend, and she is enthralled every time(naturally). She laughs and plays with them, but most of the time she just watches and pets them. It seems calming. I'll keep it up.

Thanks

7. How about a healthy home cooked meal?
If her favorite dish is super unhealthy, try lightening it up so that you don't feel guilty (calorically speaking). Also, it may alleviate financial stresses you may both be feeling as well.

Put on some nice music and force her job out of the conversation.

Focus on beautiful times you two have shared - maybe break out some photos and "remember when".

I fear I am in her boat right now, and something like that may be just what she needs.

9. very good ideas, all
maybe i'll get out our photos of our trip across the country. :) thank you

as for cooking - she is The Woman of Fire and Tongs. Her favorite meals are what she grills. I wonder if she can do that after work. If she can it'll be very therapeutic.

10. Sure thing....
If she likes to grill - perhaps you can marinate some chicken while she is out and fire it up so that it is ready to go when she gets home.

I hope you both enjoy your evening together:hug:

11. A home cooked meal with a nice long massage, complete with candles and perfumed massage oil?
Hey, it would help me. ;) :hi:

Also... maybe you can talk to her about putting together a plan for the next few months on dealing with the job, even if that includes looking for new work? It would help her feel in control.

Then the dinner and the massage...
