Anyone switched from NetFlix to Blockbuster? |
|
Today NetFlix finally received the movies I returned LAST Monday. I don't know if they're throttling me or if the mail was really slow, but I'm thinking of switching to Blockbuster so I know exactly when my movie was received (when I drop it off in the store myself).
Anybody here made the switch? Do you like BB more? Will I regret the switch?

2. That's not really an issue for me |
|
The retail store rarely carries anything I want to see, but true, I might use it from time to time.

3. Made the switch and like it |

Netflix has a slightly better selection and quite frankly they have some skin flicks you won't find at BB.
However, the BB turn-around time is quicker and we haven't been throttled. You get a coupon for a free in-store rental once a month and you can bring the mailed movies back to the store. They let you get new movies from the store but don't count it against the mailed movies they send you.
The other thing we really like is that we recently got an Xbox and we like being able to try out games before buying them, since games cost about 50 bucks.

4. I've been with Blockbuster all along, and I LOVE IT!! |
|
We have the 3 movies at a time option for $20 bucks a month. The new movies are shipped to us as soon as we check them in at the local Blockbuster outlet, as opposed to them waiting to receive them in the mail. Not to mention we get 3 free in store rentals when we check them in at the store.
Shipping is extremely fast! We usually check them in over the weekend and have the new ones in the mail by Tuesday or Wednesday.
So, we end up with 6 movies a week for $20 a month. One time (over a years time) we got 2 broken DVD's out of the 3, but I suspect that happened during shipping.
Overall, an excellent experience with Blockbuster.

7. Netflix is trying to stay competitive with streaming movies |
|
But even that isn't very impressive. It works on Win XP and Vista only (I use Linux), and there are only a short list of titles.
I think they are limited by licensing issues. That's ironic, since the streaming media is difficult to steal, but the discs are very easy to copy. Makes no sense to me.

The World's Worst Mailman(tm). The asshole doesn't come up to the house every day (all 15 feet from the sidewalk, *gasp*), delivers sporadically (never sure which day is a "I think I'll deliver her mail today" day), he a pain in the ass and I've complained many times with only a delay in getting my mail as the result.
I don't go in video stores (PTSD), so BB doesn't appeal to me at all, I'd never use the in-store optionsor bonuses. Plus, I've always hated BB and did a personal boycott of them many years ago which I refuse to end.
