I don't know why I kept thinking about this story all day.

It prompted me to post this thread in GD: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=837801&mesg_id=837801

Baby rides Oklahoma twister and survives

Caked with mud, baby Aleah is rescued by Deputy Jolley

Deputy Robert Jolley started searching for the missing family members and found the baby caught in debris at the base of a tree about 100 feet from what was left of the Williams' home.

"She looked like a rag doll," Jolley said. "She was dirty. Her ears were packed with mud, her eyes were packed with mud. When the baby started crying, I felt great, felt wonderful."

Ten-month-old Aleah Crago and her mother, Amy, were reunited at the hospital, suffering bruises and scratches. But Amy's husband, Ben Molton, is in critical condition.

2. I was thinking about that last night!
When I saw the TV footage of the town that was wiped out, I wondered about babies and animals, and I remembered that story.

5. Just like what happened to my dad in 1933.
Their South Carolina home was leveled, and my toddler dad was carried several hundred feet away. He was brown from head to foot (and found by his cries), but otherwise only scratched. Thank goodness.
