"There comes a time when silence equals betrayal."

Martin Luther King in his "Beyond Vietnam" speech, delivered at the Riverside Baptist Church in Harlem on April 4, 1967--one year to the day before his murder. Today, a college radio station in my area ran "Beyond Vietnam" in its one-hour entirety. As I listened, I kept
substituting "Iraq" for "Vietnam."

I suppose it was asking too much that the Bush junta take to heart the mistakes Uncle Sam made in Vietnam and be sure not to repeat them in a country like Iraq. After all, neither Bush nor any of his senior advisers ever saw a day of combat!

5. It's not just about that. MLK said it best when he said....
"History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people."

You know Rush and Hannity and O'Really and such are complete and utter assholes, but they only exist because their is such appalling silence from the majority of people who find them repugnant yet cannot be bothered to speak up.
