Joyful and innocent? But you have a reputation now...when I saw that you had posted about favorite kinds of milk, I couldn't HELP but think of breast milk...but only because you had posted the poll ;)

11. 4% Whole milk with Ovaltine or Hershey's
If I wanted watered down milk, I'd still buy 4% and water that down to make it last longer. I swear that is all there is to 2% and 1% milk. It's watered down. Ick.

Even though Lewis Black calls it "soy juice" to distinguish it from "moo cow f*ck milk".

19. Hmmm...along those lines then, it could be "lactating cow juice
taken from veal calves but then, who cares, because those calves are locked in tiny little crates and those lactating momma cows just go back to the rape racks anyway."

Enjoy.

27. Have you seen the way the new dairy farms work?
Because they've changed a lot of that, in most of them anyway. The cows decide when they get milked and they have massagers for them. It looks like club med for cows.
I don't know about veal calves. I don't eat veal. I've heard the stories, and it sickens me, but I know that the dairy out in Tuttle, Oklahoma, raises their males as studs, and those they don't, they sell. I buy my milk from that farm.

from these alleged "new dairy farms" and pics of this alleged club med for cows, v the percentage taken from what I've described.

32. Do you ever watch How It's Made?
Edited on Tue May-08-07 07:44 PM by YellowRubberDuckie
They had a show about it. I'm sure the percentage is small, honestly, but I think it's gaining popularity because the less the cow is stressed out, the more milk she produces. We visited that dairy when we were kids. I've seen it with my own eyes. It was a little different back then, but it wasn't too bad.

34. I hope you're right
in the gaining in popularity. The industry doesn't support the "less stress" ideology. They support the "make baby cows, make more milk" ideology. Consumer demand can change that, so I'm glad you've found a more humane dairy source. That's pretty cool.

35. It's kinda funny actually.
They even give their udders facials, basically. They steam clean them gently to make sure the milk is unblemished. And then they moisturize them when they're done. It's great.

37. That's why I buy organic.
I know it won't cut much mustard with a vegan, but it ensures that calves aren't weaned early and won't be sent to veal-crates (they're banned in the U.K., and live calf export is banned by the organic standards folk).

38. Lactose intolerance...
That sounds more appetizing than what it is.

Soy Milk is what the adults in our household eat their oatmeal with. We used to use the lactose free milks, but the plain-old soy milks just started to taste better for some reason. I think you drift away from the idea that you are replacing milk.

Seriously, I can't believe you don't have an "organic" option in the poll. To me, soy milk doesn't really count since it doesn't even come from a mammal. But that's just me.

29. Skim
I like my milk without too much of that, uh, "milk" flavor. haha I'd drink soy but there's always been something I can't stomach about its texture. (Not that "real" milk has that great of a texture, either, but I guess I'm just used to it!) Really, though, I'm not much of a milk drinker anyway, and don't mind any of the "percent"s for the amount of milk I drink. For me, it's mostly just on cereal, an occasional glass of chocolate milk, and sometimes a small glass if I'm eating something dessert-ish.
