dark hosiery.... 80 degrees
I don't know, but somehow black pantyhose worn during the day anytime between Easter and Labor Day seems idiotic.

is anyone w/ me on this?

1. Agreed
It's also terribly unfashionable. The nude leg is more the style.

21. You're right.
And neither are white slacks unfashionable after Labor Day.

(though black is the color mostly worn here).

9. Well, the temperatures in April can still be in the 50s and 60s
so I can understand wanting something covering your legs... but black during the day.

I think sheer black is acceptable in the evening, but daytime wear? No way.

10. True
I guess I buy, or sew, my skirts long enough so if I need stockings, I can wear knee highs. I hate pantyhose with the white hot passion of a million suns.

12. I hate them too
but my legs are only about 20 inches long (yes, that's an exaggeration)... so wearing a long skirt makes me look like I have no legs.

for the most part, I steer clear of dresses and skirts until I can go bare-legged.

13. And I am short waisted and long legged
So I often have to sew skirts and dresses, because they do not make them long enough.

14. Why is it idiotic?
I mean, most people who are wearing pantyhose are not working outside digging trenches for the phone company - they're working in an air-conditioned office. So what difference does it make what color their pantyhose are?

I don't know - I guess it's not really something I ever thought about too deeply.

15. That is an old rule for dress
It's right up there with the dumb ideas that white shoes shouldn't be worn after Labor Day, and that a woman's shoes must match her purse :eyes:

Black hose can, and should, be worn when it suits the outfit.

17. I wouldn't give white shoes the heave-ho for the year until
there was a frost, but then, yes, they have to go... until Easter.

The shoes don't have to match the bag, but they do have to "go" together.

27. I had to wear black hose all year long when temping back in the day...
...only kind that hides my tattoo.

I'm glad I have the tattoo, though, because otherwise people always think I'm wearing white hose when I'm not wearing any. Yes, I'm that pale.
