There's one good thing about death.
Unless it's suicide, you NEVER think about what you want to do in your life when death finally strikes.

Just another reason not to attempt suicide. It's the worst way, and a sinful way, to go.

And since most of us won't ever die in our sleep... I'd rather not know when the end comes; just pray that it's quick.

5. Fit as a fiddle.
The backaches and nerve tinglings get worse and with my psoriasis, it's basically killed off any chance of a relationship. As if you could call people today capable of the concept.

Doesn't mean I'm depressed OR suicidal (I'm not, don't worry), but I need to think of death (and life) in an objectivist viewpoint.

Your first message was a tad cryptic. I'm glad to hear you're fit, and I hope you will change your mind about relationships.

About mortality...as strange as it sounds, even after looking my mortality in the face on more than one occasion (one major health problem, various nerve-wracking medical tests), I'm still just making it all up as I go along and haven't written the great American novel or joined the Peace Corps or done much of anything dramatic. Most of every day is sheer survival and, with luck, some joy.

On edit: I write that because I have a few years on you, and it's impossible to know exactly who you will be when you're older. Believe me, there are surprises in store.

13. Thanks.
I'm quite far from it and am still trying to find a reason TO exercise so this damn tingling and pain can stop. I didn't mean to say I was; but with the right impetus it will be a goal of mine.

I know surprises are in store. I don't know when; that is the surprise.

25. I found my motivation to write and exercise...
...from a most unexpected source. I got the former when I was asked to write a blog and the latter when I had a health crisis. Fear has not been a friend to me, but in terms of motivation to exercise, it was a Godsend!

8. Fine, please do not worry! PLEASE do not worry.
I plan to live for years and as healthy as possible. I'm a smart, intelligent, capable person. Of value. And that's all I can live FOR. Because there is nobody else.

6. Soon to be? My dear fellow, I never had any to be exes.
If you consider something a relationship and it never really was, then they were never an ex. It's quite simple.

Objectivism. Gotta find solace everywhere, and I'll let God do what God wants to do. I don't like it when people say how God helped their lives; if God loves everybody, how come plenty of God-fearing men end up homeless and crippled, and even worse - how half the sports teams lose?

I just don't dig people who thank God for the most illogical things.

I apologize; I did not hear your story about your hubby. He sounds despicable. :(

7. I gave the wrong context; it is a sin and not to be done.
The reason why is nobody should have to die knowing all the things they will never have in life. I can't think of anything more cruel.

17. Thanks. I've been there before, myself.
:pals: and realized that it would be a mistake.
But I realize that kind of emotions you feel when you contemplate suicide, and it is awful. It's always sad, though, when someone takes their life. Especially teenagers who don't realize that life is so much more than what they are going through at the time.
It's very difficult to look beyond that, though.

16. Thank you.
I'd better re-read my OP. I was just fathoming the concept of death and why religious texts claim it is a sin to self-terminate.

And while I do have some health issues looming, which was the underlying impetus behind the post, committing suicide was never a conscious option. Tomorrow at 5:45, rest assured, I am going out for a jog.

21. Personal experience.
Again, the context. Would you:

Rather hang yourself, knowing all those good things you wanted never coming to reality?

Or living your life, working for tomorrow regardless of how you feel about life - struggling even against the darkest of emotion - and somebody else rams their car into you, snipes you, et cetera?

The latter scenario would most likely rob you of the "Oh well, it's over" thought process. The former scenario has you wallowing toward the end. Believe me, I know. And believe me, I'm misunderstanding you or you're misunderstanding me. (You do know attempting suicide for me is like a normal person going on vacation; it's a periodic event that never turns out the way it should. Which in the case of vacation is a bad thing, but in the case of suicide is a good thing because the person is still here today.)

22. I would not choose suicide. That does not mean it's "sinful".
To call it a sin is to perpetuate the shame, instead of seeing suicide for what it is: a result of deep, profound, unresolved suffering.

It's not a sin.

28. It ultimately doesn't make much difference
when we die, we are either just worm food, or there is something else.

I'm not much of a believer in the sinfulness of suicide, but I certainly don't challenge anyone's beliefs about anything.

i can't say i know much about much really toad, i hope you are okay

life's short enough i suppose, and once someone dies, the world expects you to move along and grief is only okay as long as it fits everyone else's schedules

29. I think it suicide is one of the best ways to go.
My terms,my time,my choice.I honestly believe it's the way I'll go out one of these days.Lots of quick, painless ways to choose from.

Plus, not being religious takes away the sin angle.

Having said all that...you damn well better not choose it yourself. :spank:
