Is Charlie Sheen a total asshole?

Just wondering, based on this story.

Charlie Sheen Insults Atheists – Tells CBS Entertainment Show, “Anybody That Doesn’t Believe in God Hasn’t Looked Into the Eyes of Their Child.”

Popular film and television star CHARLIE SHEEN insulted Atheists, Freethinkers, Humanists and other nonbelievers during a recent interview carried by the popular “Entertainment Tonight” (“ET”) program earlier this week.

Letters and e-mails to the CBS/Paramount network are needed now to ask that Mr. Sheen retract his statement that “Anybody that (sic) doesn’t believe in God hasn’t looked into the eyes of their child.

The comment was made during an interview with ET’s Mark Steins during a discussion of Sheen’s divorce proceeding with estranged wife Denise Richards. It is currently posted at et.tv.yahoo.com. Mr. Sheen described court papers filed by Ms. Richards as “baseless,” and told the audience about his two small children:

Not for long stretches of time, but often when he was in town. The ticket writers and supervisors who got to know him a little bit said he seemed like a cool guy. He wore plenty of surplus clothing and it wasn't obvious it was Charlie Sheen. I never really talked to him but a couple of times I went up to make bets and overheard what he was saying and it was positive, funny stuff. Many times I've seen him together with his father and brother, walking through the casinos and once eating at the Mirage.

17. I think we're misinterpreting his comments here...

...what he's obviously saying is how powerful parenthood can be to some, and how the change can be viewed
as a religious experience. I have no opinion about God's existence either way, but I completely understand
what he means by this, as a parent.

Actually, my kids give me a greater respect for the wonders of science -- DNA, genetics, biology, etc. The magical sky deity invisible had nothin' to do with their creation.
