Am I a grouch because I hate "____" Day Holidays? |
|
I love my mother every day, not just a Sunday in May. I love my dad too, not just one day in June. I just hate the "you're a schmuck if you dont buy a card" holidays. I helped my mom renovate a house last week and I will continue helping her out in the weeks, months, and years to come, as she "flips" houses and is a realtor. Am I an ass if I dont get her a card on one day? I will buy a card and take it to her, but I hate feeling made to do it by the Hallmark bastards.

Not buying her a card on this "one day" doesn't make you an ass.... as long as you buy her a card on some other day.
If you would prefer to boycott the greeting card industry and florists in the name of not giving away your hard-earned money to "Hallmark Holidays," fine. Make your mother a card or pick her a wildflower.
I see absolutely nothing wrong with making your mom feel extra special. You may do nice things for her all the time, but just once a year put in that one little extra effort.
I know of very few mothers who deserve less than that.

3. Especially since Mother's Day began as an anti-war movement |
|
and now it's a bullshit "buy your mom one of our pricey cards or you are a schmuck!" day.

4. So why do it? Pick something different, or just call her up and tell her how wonderful she is. |
