It's odd; you can be sitting there, stone cold sober, and the next minute, WHAM.... |
|
you're still stone cold sober. And the really strange part is that you haven't even had anything to drink!
Has that ever happened to you?

3. Yes, except when I take painkillers. |
|
And then suddenly I'm not so stone cold sober. Weird.
:)

I do actually have enough vodka for the whole class...but I'm hoarding. *snort* Another double and I might be willing to share though.

8. Narcotics don't get me stoned, as is common with chronic-pain people. Sometimes I wish |
|
they did, though.

always got me "drunk" up until the day I started getting alergic reactions to it and they moved me to my current one. This one doesn't get me nearly as drunk but even after several years it still makes me a little bit dopey.
I hear that I'm supposed to stop feeling the High after a while, but I haven't been that lucky yet. My coworkers tell me I don't act dopey, but I still don't like feeling that way at work. :(

18. You're not "supposed" to do anything; stop letting people tell you that. Your body will do what |
|
it will do, and you'll go on from there.
Be in charge of your pain; not in control, but in charge. Don't let "them" be in charge.
Just some friendly advice.

11. Get used to it, because I'm always sober even when I have a drink. It's a curse; nobody has ever |
|
seen me noticeably drunk, though I do get tired after drinking for a while.
I really kinda envy those people who can cut loose enough so they end up saying the next morning: "I did what last night?

14. But I enjoy having a drink, so I don't mind speanding the money. I like a beer |
|
or a tasty Marg; plus even though I don't get drunk, it does dull the edge of the pain.

Since Giving up chemical comforts many years ago, (except for caffeine and the occasional Ibuprofen)--My brain likes to fuck with me a lot. I'll be walking along exercising, meditating, minding my own business-- and there I am in some sort of weird existential state. Kind of cool really. I'm usually listening to something off the wall, like the remix of Freak on a Leash by Korn. Or Cripple Creek by The Band.
I know it's weird.

15. Uh, it doesn't sound particularly weird to me. I know you have a hard time trying to explain |
|
what you're talking about, but I do know what you mean. There's probably some long-winded offical term for that psychological state, but who needs to know it?
