on her lapel from the rose bush just outside the kitchen door on Mother's Day. They are a kind of deep burgundy velvet. She preferred that one to store-bought flowers.

I miss you Momma. She died in July of 1996 from breast cancer.

Tomorrow I'm having lunch with my family, my sister, my niece, her husband, and her two children.

but the best part of her remains with me and my siblings. She was a wonderful, caring individual who always made others feel welcome in her home and always thought of others first. I miss you Mom, hope you like how things have turned out for your kids!

My mom died New Year's Day, 2004. I think of her constantly and miss her so terribly much.

She and Dad were married for 65 years. This isn't a very good photo of her, but it's the only one I have uploaded.

My mom:

Oct 13, 1921 - July 10, 1997

She was such a kind, tolerant, wise and fun person. She didn't have a lot of the latter in her life, but it did peek out, once in a while.

Here's a hug for you, GoPsUx. Your mom had a friendly face, and a very warm sense about her.

21. Thank you, GoPsUx, for this thread.
My Mom is still with us, but she's in poor health
so I don't know for how long.

My Mother-in-law ( no 'ex' there- she was like a second Mom to me)
passed away August 24th, 1999. We were in Maui, where my ex-husband
lived at the time, when we found out. The vacation ended there, we got
home as soon as possible.
I remember her and miss her a lot.
There are so many times I want to pick up the phone and call her-
then I remember I can't, so I talk to her anyway.

Your Mom looks like a very kind and wonderful person.
She's raised a great son, and I know she's smiling down at us.

Thanks, again.

32. How nice. Wish I could still hear my mom's voice.
She lost her battle to glioblastoma, a brain tumor, on July 27, 2005. The last thing she did, before being too ill for much of anything, was to help me pack and move here. She wasn't feeling well, so went home to see the doctor, assuring me she'd be back by the end of the week to help me unpack. Left on Monday, doctor's appointment on Tuesday, more tests on Wednesday--when they confirmed the tumor, surgery on Thursday, and she was never really herself again.

I'll always remember our last "girls' night out". We took a break from packing, went to a Chinese buffet for dinner, then to see "National Treasure". Had a great time together.

I miss her.

33. I lost my mother in 1998, and I was her caregiver
My brother and I do not speak since then. I blame him for her dying as he would not allow me to change hospitals. The hospital killed her, and I had felt I had to change her to another one. She had pneumonia, and I caught the nurses or nurse's aides while she was in ICU feeding her pudding while she had a breathing mask on. Even I had been told not to feed her when she had the breathing mask on! She was aspirating the pudding and I heard the noises assoicated with that. Once I pointed it out, they whisked me out of the room, and tried to clear out her lungs.

She rapidly went downhill after that.

Mom, I miss you....you were my best friend in the whole world. I am sorry I was not able to protect you better.

What a sweet smile your mom has.

My mom was born May 7, 1922, and passed on April 22, 1987. I didn't realize until I did the math just now that it's been 20 years. I miss my mom every day, but this time of year is especially hard.

on edit: I have cassette tapes that my mom recorded as "letters" to her sister the year I got married. Your recording of your mom made me realize I should get those out and put them on CD.
