Poll question: I am still confused on shaving.
$30.99 for 16 Mach3 Turbo blades; of which I dispose of 1 or 2 blades per week

Or

$75 for a Braun 5775 electric foil shaver with an 18 month lifespan for the blade, so they claim(not rotary; those I've tried and don't work well)

Thanks!

1. 1 or 2 blades a week? You shaving Ron Jeremy a couple times a day?
And yes, I mean "all over" shaving of Ron Jeremy.

2. Well, I've been told I compare but that's not the point...
I shave that pesky facial hair every day. Ears too. x( Damn ears. Oh well. And they say when that little green strip wears out, to replace it. And they're not joking; those blades get dull surprisingly quick.

I also dumped Schick brand because their 4 and 5 blade razors have vertical wires that make cleaning between the blades impossible; rendering them ineffective after 4 strokes - planned obsolescence a bit too quickly for that bogus "innovation". They claim they reduce nicks and cuts. Uh-huh.

Also, I have sensitive skin. FWIW.

3. Thats what I was thinking.......
I have an uber-thick beard and I can usually coax a couple a three weeks out of my blades. If a person is going through 2-3 blades a week, an upgrade to a brush-hog might be in order.

6. 1 or 2, really...
:)

Still, the net cost/ROI of the electric unit is going to be lower. One blade in 18 months instead of 40~60 in the same period of time. 12 months alone; the cost is already made up.

7. I tried switching from a blade to electric.......
and I got some of the worst, most miserable shaving experiences. The electric hurt, broke out my face and I spent as much time touching up as I did just shaving straight w/ a blade, so I switched back. Long story short, buyer beware.

8. You growing wire instead of hair? WOW!
I go through a blade in 3-4 weeks, but I have shitty little facial hair that isn't very manly.

But 1-2 a week? Fer chrissake. They say the average is 1 every two weeks on the packaging.

Hella beard you have!

Sadly, with that kind of beard, that electric razor probably won't handle it well. Electrics also don't shave as well as a blade, and can make the face break out for some people.

Good luck!

9. have you considered the old-fashioned razor with replaceable blades?
Edited on Sat May-12-07 07:06 PM by Connonym
The initial cost of the razor is more (a lot more depending on how fancy you want) but in the long haul blades are cheap and, the part I like, you're not sticking all that plastic into landfills. You can also save money (and help the environment) by using a brush and shaving soap. That has the added bonus of being very retro sexy to the ladies :-)
