I'm trying to quit my diet coke habit and I've been drinking iced green tea. Kind of a lot of it, up to maybe 3/4 gallon per day, totally plain, no flavors or sugars. Trying to figure out if it's the green tea causing tummy trouble. Have I traded one poison for another?

1. More than 4 cups of tea will call tummy trouble.

2. The key to everything is moderation
Too much of anything is a bad thing. Why not mix in something different, water (and you can get some of the carbonated flavored waters which aren't half bad either) or someother type of tea, you could even mix in an occasional diet coke too, if you don't want to give it up entirely.

3. therein lies my problem
I have moderation problems -- namely a caffeine addiction. Water intake isn't an issue I drink a lot of water. I'm perpetually sluggish w/o caffeine though, even if I get plenty of sleep :-/

6. Some of the herbal teas have some caffeine in them
I think, naturally and might actually help you drink enough caffeine to make you feel okay but not overstimulate. I used to be a caffeine addict and went cold turkey off of it because I couldn't stand the "withdrawal" headaches. Now that I did that I can occasionally drink caffeine with few issues (but not too much) I myself love green tea, particularly iced green tea, but have been trying to make a habit of drinking lots of different stuff.

4. Exactly the same thing here,
only I'm replacing mostly water with the iced green tea. I now only drink the green tea with meals.
