1. Why?
I miss dancing, not the frenetic kind of disco, but Partner type.

I'm taking ballroom dancing.

3. The list of today's music losers would stretch from here to CLEVELAND...
I'm near Lansing Michigan at the moment.

6. Yeah, me too. And The Trammps, KC & the Sunshine Band,
Brothers Johnson, Ohio Players -- lots of 'em.

And I've never even heard of Skatt Bros. or Dschinghis Khan.

The "Spinners"
Artist: Spinners Lyrics
Song: The Rubberband Man Lyrics
Hand me down my walkin’ cane
Hand me down my hat
Hurry now and don’t be late
'Cause we ain’t got time to chat

You and me we’re goin’ out
To catch the latest sounds
Guaranteed to blow your mind
So high you won’t come down

Hey, y’all prepare yourself
For the Rubberband man
You never heard a sound
Like the rubberband man
You’re bound to lose control
When the Rubberband starts to jam

Oh, Lord, this dude is outta sight
Everything he does
seems to come out right

Once I went to hear them play
At a club outside of town
I was so surprised, I was hypnotized
By the sound this cat’s puttin’ down

When I saw this short fat guy
Stretch a band between his toes
Hey, I laughed so hard ‘cause the man got down
When he finally reached his goal

Hey, y’all prepare yourself
For the Rubberband man
You never heard a sound
Like the rubberband man
You’re bound to lose control
When the Rubberband starts to jam

Got that rubberband
Up on his toes
And then he wriggled it up
All around his nose

(Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo)
Guaranteed to blow your mind
(Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo)
Playin’ all that music, yet keepin’ time
(Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo)
Where in the world did he learn that, oh, Lord
(Doo doo doo doo doo)
Lord, help him get away

Hey, y’all prepare yourself
For the Rubberband man
You never heard a sound
Like the rubberband man
You’re bound to lose control
When the Rubberband starts to jam

Doo doo doo doo doo
Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo
Doo doo doo doo doo
Rubberband man, Rubberband man
How much of this stuff do he think we can stand
So much rhythm, grace and debonair from one man, Lord
And then he had nerve to wiggle his left toe
To his knee, got the feelin’ in his head, y’all
Ah, come on, baby

Hey, y’all prepare yourself
For the Rubberband man
You never heard a sound
Like the rubberband man
You’re bound to lose control
When the Rubberband starts to jam

Rubberband man starts to jam
Movin’ up and down across the land
Got people all in his ways
Everything about him seems out of place

Just a movin’, just a movin’, just a move-move-movin’
Just a Rubberband, Rubberband man
Just a movin’, just a movin’, just a move-move-movin’
Just a Rubberband, Rubberband man

Get down
Oh, get down lover
Uh-huh

If that doesn't make your feet want to MOVE, I just don't understand you at all.

5. I'm just an outside observer here!
I was born in 1980, after all.

Maybe it's something I wouldn't understand.

maybe it was the cocaine and Quaaludes.

20. 1980 is about when it died.
I remember seeing a punk kid with a Disco Sucks shirt on that year, and I told him he was right.

7. I'd listen to disco all day vs. 20 minutes of rap.
...but they both suck.

8. I'll take disco over post-grunge, nu rock or whatever they call
Creed, Nickleback, and all the other bands who sound exactly like them whose names I don't even know. I'll take disco over that steaming pile of crap any day of the week. At least disco is fun.

14. Two hours? That long?
I heard the disco version of the "Star Wars" theme on the radio yesterday.

It made me realize how old the film franchise was.

12. No, it actually isn't the lowest form surprisingly. Rap came along and lowered the bar.
And hip hop didn't help, either.

18. My gripe against disco is that it's the only musical form
that a lot of people associate with the 70's. And the 70's were a great time for rock n' roll. Some really good, classic music came out then but so many people hear 70's and say, "Oh. Ick. Disco." :banghead:

21. I tend to agree. Many forms of rock music were alive and thriving,
through the first half of the '70's. In my opinion, disco placed a dagger squarely in the middle of the back of the music industry. The direction of music changed dramatically after that.

"Music" my ass--it's the same song every time with different lyrics! I'd rather listen to some hip-hop than disco!
