I love my Grandparents....but MAN... |
|
Seniors can get on your last nerve. My Grandparent's back porch is full of empty boxes, bags, books, etc. My Grandfather gave me 10.00 for throwing out anything that I "know" is trash. I got a big jump on hauling the boxes to the dumpster. I got halfway through the job when my Grandmother came out and started screeching about her Christmas decorations. It was in a box!! It was in a box!!So, to calm her down I brought every box back in. No decorations. Well, let's look in the basement. They weren't there either. I finally started unstacking boxes that I had originally stacked and we found the damn decorations. This whole episode took 40 minutes of hell!
Oh well, I may sound mean, but I wanted to vent here instead of taking it out on my Grandmother. I am going to go next door after I cool down with a couple of brews and ask my Grandmother if she would will me the decorations. If they mean that much to her, they mean that much to me. Don't get me wrong, my Grandparents have hundreds of decorations, it was just these that were special.

and I can't do anything about it because I can't start the lawnmower. I got out every couple of days or so and try to start it, no go.

Some (many) elderly people can be a bit....trying. At times I describe my 97-year-old grandmother as "like a child, but you can't yell at her." She's turned into quite a pill, which she never was as a younger woman. I can only imagine what my mother, who was always a pill, will be like at that age. I try to be understanding and generally do a good job of it, ("It's not her fault, it's neurological, It's not her fault, it's neurological.....") but sometimes......

4. I love running errands with my Grandparents |

the whole world smiles at you when you are with your 80-something-Grandparents. The teens get a little annoyed because they are kinda slow. But they can wait! :hi:

5. I went thru that packrat business with my Mom. |
|
I had to wait till she died to start cleaning out the house.
She's been dead over four years and I'm STILL going thru piles of stuff and taking stuff to the thrift store.
