6. We took my mother to the Waterfront Buffet at Harrahs in Atlantic City
for Mothers Day. We enjoyed the food and will probably go back. Since it's at the casino, there aren't many screaming babies floating around.

10. This one was a bit spendy at $28 a head
but we definitely made it worth the visit. The sushi was so-so, the dim sum delightful, and the grilled salmon perfect. We need to go back just to hit some of the stations that we were too full to visit.

9. Ooooo...Chinese food!
Our little town of 18,000 or so has FOUR, count 'em, FOUR Chinese buffets.
And they're all equally mediocre.

12. Good Chinese buffets are kind of hard to find.
We have a really good pan-asian seafood buffet near us. 14.99 for adults!

It has:

sushi several varieties
several dim sum dishes
a mongolian barbecue
a buffet line with several seafood dishes
a buffet line with chicken, beef, pork, and tofu dishes
a salad line
a dessert line
an ice cream machine

21. I've had to take a break from buffets the past two weeks here in Las Vegas
It's killing me but I need to trim down. I was on a cruise recently and gained 11 pounds via the freestyle cruising on NCL.

That ship, the Pride of Hawaii, was inferior to the Norwegian Star I took to Alaska in '95, but the buffet was far superior. I ended up eating every meal there, not once pretending I needed to sample the stuffy restaurants.

As I get older I'm doing a much better job being true to myself and not pretending I need to do things to please others, or to supply answers to their inevitable questions. I've always hated fancy meals with tiny portions so no way I'm forcing that upon myself during a vacation.
