All But Dissertation.
After eight years of course work and writing, I'll be defending my dissertation (I still can't spell it) in the next month or so. Then I'll have a PhD in Social Work. If anybody knows any job opening for Fall of 2004 in Social Work or Research and Statistics -- let me know.
I want to stay in the DC area, but could move.
Unless of course I'm offered a job in the Dean administration!

Things will go well, I'm sure, now that you've reached this stage.
I'm taking my (oral) Ph.D. qualifying exam in astronomy in about three weeks. After that, it's about 2.5 years until I'm done. (I hope.)
I wish my background were such that I could get a job in the Dean administration. That'd rock!

My daughter is just wrapping up her master's in social work from Washington U in St. Louis. Same sorta emphasis - policy rather than case work. Right now she's working at the CDC in Atlanta before heading to Nicarauga (sp) to do her practicum (or whatever it's called) as the final requirement for the MSW.
