"You are very rude! I'm on the phone!" From a store clerk.
I'm at the laundromat and the change machines were "out of service". There's a sign on the laundromat wall stating that if you have any problems or need change come to the market next door for service. They are owned and operated by the same people. So I go over and the clerk behind the counter is taking care of customers while TALKING ON THE PHONE! Now I wouldnt be so uppity but every time I go in there she is yakking on the phone. Never seen her not on the phone. So I'm at the counter and she's talking away, not even looking at me. I say "excuse me, I need change for the laundry." She turns her back and laughs about something that was said in her little conversation. I again, very politely say "excuse me but I need change...". She then turns to me and says "You are very rude! I'm on the phone! You cant shop here anymore, leave!" Thus sending me to drive to another laundromat across the neighborhood.

Do you consider my behavior "Rude"? Arent store clerks supposed to tend to the customers and not spend every damn minute on the damn cellphone? Are cellphones that important?
Damn! That pissed me off!

1. She must have a manager or someone higher up,
Edited on Wed May-16-07 06:35 PM by mycritters2
who wouldn't be happy about her sending customers away. I'd talk to her superior.

2. She IS the manager! She's an owner!
So there's no one to complain to. Its a shame because this place is right around the corner from where I live. Now I have to drive about a mile back and forth.

3. Yes, you were very rude......
You do live in bizarro world, right??? :sarcasm:

And believe me- I'm the most patient person in the world with retail clerks. Having been in their shoes before, I never get nasty with them unless I know without a shadow of a doubt that there isn't any underlying problem causing whatever problem I'm having.

Totally uncalled for. If she's got a boss, talk to her. If she's the owner, tell everyone you know. I'd stop going there if I knew that's how they treated people.

5. You were not rude.
However, it is not the cell phones fault...she is just a rude person.....a phone is a phone....

6. I'm a store clerk who sometimes answers the phone.
I tell the person on the phone I'll call back when there are no customers. :hi:

8. And I thank you for that.
I go to this store 5-7 days a week. Sometimes more than once a day and EVERY time I go in she's yakking on the phone. These are not business related calls.
Customer service seems to be a thing of the past.

7. Cellphone or regular phone - makes no difference. She was the rude one, not you.

9. Sneak back in when she's not looking...
pour bleach in the washers, and let the other customers lynch her when their clothes get ruined.

Revenge is a dish best served cold. Or snowy white!

10. I wont resort to vandalism. Even though it sounds like a good one.
There are many good people who use that facility and I couldnt fuck their clothes up like that.
I know how I would feel if all of my laundry was ruined in that way.
I was thinking of walking along the sidewalk with a picket sign stating the rudeness of the management.

13. That would work.
Destroy enough of her business and she'll be BEGGING you to disturb her while she's on the phone! (since she won't be able to pay her cell phone bill in a few weeks!)

11. So you advocate ruining complete strangers clothes
To get revenge on a third party? What are you, twelve years old?

What if the people whose clothes were ruined are needy and those were the only clothes that family had?

You would destroy a strangers' belongings to get back at someone else?

That is without a doubt the most asinine thing that I have ever seen posted on this board.

14. Call the owner
I doubt that the owner would appreciate the clerk chasing off customers in such a way.

16. Just read that she is an owner
which sounds like there are several owners? I would get in touch with another owner (if they are losing profits, then they should know why) - if she is the only owner I would just take my business elsewhere and not explain why - if her business takes a dive that is her own responsibility.

17. Ask around....
Find out if any other customers were ever treated badly by this woman. Get heads together to come up with the best possible solution!

(Can't say I didn't try....;))
