My fear is that the writers won't let us know until the 4th season.
I can't imagine they would kill Locke though...that would really screw up a lot of the group dynamic. I'm hoping that this weird person/nonperson that Ben showed Locke (can't remember his name) will somehow help Locke and together they'll defeat Ben.
It's odd to me that Locke heard this guy say "help me" when seconds after it was Locke that needed the help.

There are so many freaking characters to keep track of. I wouldn't mind a list of all major, minor, and even the extras to make this whole thing easier. You know if your seeing them once in one character centered episode that they'll be popping up in another characters flashback, and who can keep track?

He's the only character who is driven to discover the mysteries of the island (probably why I've always liked his character). It drives me nuts that most of the characters are perfectly happy to just stay on the beach and seem to have very little curiosity about where they are. I'd have the damn place mapped in the first month! :+

The writers wanted to make them key figures in the show, but they were so incredibly unpopular with viewers that they killed them off instead, and quite abruptly. I just liked them for the humor value--namely Sawyer saying "Who the hell are you?" a couple of times. Just saying what the viewers were thinking.
Makes me wonder why they had the idea to try to introduce two key figures (crash survivors, I mean) this late in the game. Did somebody owe one of those guys' agents a favor or something?

Having been found and everyone being dead, The Others could've staged that. They seem to have plenty of resources available to them. It'd be a way for them to get everyone to stop looking for the plane. (And it'd give the writers a way to fuck with the viewers who've been saying they're all dead.)

43. Charlie "must die" does not make sense |
|
not that much is making sense in this program, of course
Remember when we were first introduced to Desmond's ability to visualize events, he met Charlie back in England, Charlie was playing and Desmond came to him and said that they've met before, on the Island, and Charlie had no idea what he was talking about or who he was. This implies, I think, that Charlie survived the island.

was pre-island but Desmond knew about the Island due to his vision or re-trip through time and that is why Charlie was clueless.
Charlie "has to die" because if he doesn't then they aren't rescued from the island a'la Desmond's visions.
I sense a Christ moment coming up in the finale.

I still am not sure why he has to die for Clair and the baby to be saved..
It is not like "Back to the Future" where his parents had to have met so that he could come to the world?
I don't know about all the Biblical references. Someone on a Lost board last week suggested that referenced with Ben's parents. She gave birth in agony while he had to toil hard for the rest of his life.. as Adam and Eve were cursed while being expelled from the Garden of Eden. Go figure..

have to go a certain way for the outcome to be the same. He can save Claire and then Charlie won't die. In his vision, Charlie has to push the button and then Claire is saved. Desmond made great pains to make sure that Charlie was with him to rescue the Naomi woman because he was in the vision and thought things would be different if he wasn't.
