American Idol spoilers...don't look if you don't want to know |
|
Really? they sent Melinda home?? That's some massive BS...she's by far the best singer on the show!

4. She doesn't have the stage presence that Jordan and Blake have. |
|
She isn't a performer, she is a voice and a very good voice, but it is American Idol, not American Voice.
I'm not surprised at all. Jordan will be the winner.

This is a travesty. I honestly don't know if I want to watch next week. At this point, I don't really care which one of the remaining two wins. They both seem shabby in comparison to Melinda.
Is America stupid or what?

I'm glad she is gone. She has a great voice but she is BORRRR--IIIIIING.
Jordan has GREAT pipes and will only get better. Melinda is what she is.
I like Blake. He sounded better singing Maroon 5 than Maroon 5 did tonight. If I HAD to go see one in concert, it would be Blake.

9. Blake has been my pick from pretty much the beginning |
|
Even when everyone was saying it was all Lakisha and Melinda at the beginning. Even if he isn't the best singer he is the most original. I hope he wins. His might be the first AI CD I buy.

21. I liked him even at his tryout |
|
He is really creative and I like his moves. There is just something about him - it doesn't always come out right but he'll try anything. Can't wait to see him in the final. He reminds me of a young Sting.

10. Not surprising this season... |
|
the whole season has sucked. I rarely watch anymore but just saw Melinda getting voted off. That is just wrong!
Blake is so not worthy and boorrrring. But you have the little girls voting for him..the only reason he's there. Glad Jordin has made it this far...even though I heard tonight on Olberman she's pro-life. Hope she's not a freeper.

I think people thought Melinda was "safe" and therefore, didn't bother to vote for her. Jordin's and Blake's fans thought they were saving their candidate from elimination and voted to keep them on.
BTW: I voted for Blake, and I text-messaged, and I'm no kid! LOL Blake has been my favorite all season.

This sucks ass, big time.
My boss is going to be SO pissed off! We tagged Melinda from the start to win. Blake is GOOD. Very good. I like Jordin too.
But FUCK!!!! This is shit.
Well, I'll say this .... Melinda has a furture. Just like Jennifer Hudson.

She is an out and out professional and will definitely have a career after this.
Next week will certainly be interesting. I find Blake the more entertaining of the two. I like that he is willing to always try something a little different. :)

19. She is the best singer...but not the most entertaining... |
|
Of course I'm outing myself here as an American Idol watcher...
One of my few guilty pleasures...along with "Little House on the Prairie"...
Blake Lewis is the most entertaining...you never know what he is gonna come up with. I thought his performance on the Jon Bon Jovi night was the best of anyone so far...
Melinda frankly got a little boring... she sang great, but nothing new out of her really...

20. I think it was the right decision |
|
Here's why
Yes- she's obviously the best. She's a well trained, polished, performer. She's 29 and she's been a professional backup singer for years- you almost have to ask why she needed to try out for American Idol in the first place. Well the truth is she probably got all the exposure she needed after a few weeks- people will be all over her with record contracts. She doesn't need American Idol. She will have a great career of her own.
Blake is good but needs some exposure and polish. Jordin is awfully young and this is a great experience for her. So I am happier to see these two in the final because they will benefit the most from the experience. They are still amateurs. Melinda is way way past American Idol.
Also, this contest is won by teenagers dialing zillions of times. Its easier for me to picture teenagers doing that for the younger contestants. Its stupid, but thats the way it works.

22. I've only watched sporadically, but I did see it last night.... |
|
Melinda has a wonderful voice, but I thought she was too old school for the age group that votes. And it seemed like she didn't know what to do with her facial expressions on stage, kind of blank or grimacing. She just seemed awkward on stage.
As far as the last two? I have no opinion.

24. I've said it from the beginning: This season is the least talented and lamest season yet. |
|
All the "talented" singers this year were BORING as shit. They needed the nudie chick and Sanjaya to actually make anyone pay attention to that pack of turds. None of them have any star-power.
Melinda could sing but unwatchable. Jordan is just plain "blah". Blake is a shitty faux white-guy-funk douche.
Send 'em all home and start over.

Melinda SHOULD have won. The fact that she didn't exposes the weakness of allowing 12 year olds to vote multiple times :eyes:
Because of this, I'm not going to watch the finale, or in fact, the show again unless they change how the winner is decided.
As to those who say that Melinda is boring...apparently you didn't actually watch some of her performances. Her Tina Turner "Nutbush City Limits" was very well done.
Here are my thoughts on the final 2...
Jordin should win. She doesn't really deserve to, as Melinda was clearly better, but of the final 2, she is better and has the potential to be what AI is supposed to produce. She's still a bit raw and needs to mature, but she can.
Blake has no business being in the top 2 (or 3 for that matter) - he's a freaking novelty act, more suited to "America's Got Talent" than AI. If he wins, he'll put out one album, which will do ok, but then it'll be all downhill as the novelty wears thin. At least Jordin has the potential for an actual career in the music business.

and this show is SUPPOSED to be about giving amateurs a shot. She's been singing professionally as a back up singer for people like Michael McDonald, Aaron Neville and CeCe Winans. She already had the contacts to become a lead singer. She'll be fine.
