Here's what $72.8 MILLION bucks will buy you ... |
|
US abstract artist Mark Rothko's 1950 work White Center (Yellow, Pink and Lavender on Rose). http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6660487.stmThese people are definitely living in a different world from the rest of us.

I can make something surprisingly similar to that and I'll only charge you 36 million for it...It's a bargain!

5. Rothko was way ahead of his time and his paintings are beautiful... |
|
especially under the strict lighting conditions he insisted on as a condition of their exhibition.
As for the price. The painting would be worth $82 million before the ink was dry on the check.

4. Oh come on! $72.8 million can't buy you the budget for a hollywood flick! |
|
And comparing that pink and orange thing to the $71 million thrown at "The Dukes of Hazzard" (Well, it was $53 million but there was a lawsuit that cost 'em $18 mil on top of all that...), which one would you rather have?
The shite movie or the blocky scribble in garish colour?
Obviously, the painting. I could do better with color and imagery, but art is better than brainless b00bie flaunting any day of the week.

It's even too late to be a novel idea, that particular work. It is certainly not worth comment.
