16 May 2007 MACHETE THUG GETS 4 YEARS A PARTYGOER had his skull cracked with a machete for objecting to Celtic songs, a court heard yesterday.
Gilbert Hannah, 27, also had bruising to the brain after the attack by Gary Flanagan, 26.
Flanagan, of Cedar Street, St George's Cross, Glasgow, was jailed for four years at the High Court in the city yesterday.
Judge Lord Brailsford, described the machete as a "most unpleasant weapon".
He added: "It was a typical example of an assault with a weapon you shouldn't have had in the first place and a drunken squabble over football songs."
The court had been told the victim objected to Flanagan singing Celtic songs at a party in Royston, Glasgow, last July.
He was later found unconscious in a pool of blood in the hallway of the flat block. Flanagan admitted assaulting him to the danger of his life.
