I love it in fact - - I just like getting a rise out of people.

After all, you're talking to the guy who wore a "God is Dead" T-Shirt to a fundie school once.

Thing is, us Californians never got why you can have someone who is progressive in every way, smart and educated and from Texas - - and the minute you make a comment that Texas is anything less than the greatest place on Earth - that person comes down on you hard. SpongeBob Squarepants had the funniest take on this when SB and Patrick were bashing Texas in order to get Sandy Cheeks to chase them.

12. Not everyone who votes in Texas comes from Texas.

We have people from all 50 states move here, I know because this past election in November.

There are Texans who voted for Bush but there are a lot of Texans who didn't.

We have progressive folks here.

Your state gave us Nixon and Reagan for president plus the Bush family in the White House.

We all know who was running the White House in the 80's.

Look who your governor is now, he was elected twice.

There have been a lot of anti-Texas postings at DU, and it gets really old.

And it isn't funny.

We have something called Texas pride here, insult Bush all you want.

Hell I will join you, I hate Bush.

Just don't paint the whole state with a republican brush, a lot of us are Yellow Dog Democrats and are proud of it.

But just explain to me, why everyone in Texas is so touchy about Texan pride? If you insult Texas, you might as well go into a crowd and announce you're a baby killer.

Yeah, California has A LOT of shortcomings. Besides Nixon and Reagan, we also had Pete Wilson, Free Republic is hosted here and we too had a Kennedy assassinated here.

I see both states as flip sides of the American coin on steroids. They both take some of America's eccentricities and exponentiate them.

In Texas you will find an unhealthy devotion to God, Guns and Grassland.

In California you will find an unhealthy devotion to vanity, self-amusement and detachment.

Both states are bizarre places, and strike foreigners as almost cartoonish. Especially Europeans.
