5. I once observed dolphins using a computer
outfitted with a specially built touch screen, at Sea Life Park on O'ahu. They operated it by touching one quadrant of the screen with their rostrum ("beak"), thereby choosing whatever option was displayed in that quadrant.

The killer app in "Silicon Ocean"? Video clips of other dolphins, particularly those that they knew; at the time, Sea Life Park would rotate its dolphins with a dolphin pool at the Kahala Mandarin Hotel nearer town. So the ones still at Sea Life Park could use the computer to watch video of their friends who were over at Kahala.
