5. We are skipping this year's summer vacation.
We usually take a road trip from Idaho to Minnesota. This year, we just can't afford the cost, as we are hoping to go on a huge family trip to Orlando with my siblings, their family and our parents next spring.

10. You're a submarine?
I did not know that. :)

I see you're planning to hit all the high spots of the modern military ship tours. Too bad that there are no tours of the Mothball fleet up in Suisun Bay. It's quite a big 'parking lot' and visible when one crosses the Benicia bridge (I-680)

There's also a part of a famous WWII vessel at Land's End

We haven't gone to the shore for a couple of years. Ocean City isn't too far to drive. Plus I love the outlet malls in nearby Delaware.

18. New York, NJ shore, Washington
actually Washington is for a national conference in July. The idea is, as long as work is paying to get me all the way back East, vacay with Mom and Repuke Stepdad in NY/NJ is scheduled around that.

Oh yes, despite whatever you may have heard, October is also considered "autumn" rather than "summer" here in the Pacific. :-) Regardless, it'll still be warm, and there's lots and lots of cool civilian stuff as well.
