49cc motorcycles need to be licensed
In my state everything under 50cc is treated as a bicycle.

I have ten year olds buzzing up and down my street on what sounds like chainsaws with wheels.

1. I don't believe they are 'street legal' for unlicensed drivers.
Check with your local police precinct on that.

2. In my state they are street legal
as long as they are under 50cc.

4. 'Street legal' would assume a licensed operator, wouldn't it?
If not, that's a pretty major loophole. Lots of scooters have sub-50cc engines, but can not be operated by unlicensed minors on public roads.

5. They are considered bicycles
As soon as school lets out it's like a bunch of chainsaws running up and down street. I wouldn
t mind so much if they were going somewhere. It's just the fucking noise I hate.

7. Can unlicensed minors ride bicycles on public roads?
I mean, for the most part parents are going to forbid it, but I'd be very surprised if the law doesn't address the issue.

3. By "bicycle" you mean ..
no need for a driver license? or license plate, or helmet?

Just what the world needs is one more noisy toy for kids to kill themselves with.

I haven't noticed these in my neighborhood. I guess it's just a matter of time ...

6. I hate hate hate those things!!!
I had neighbors that were riding these nuisances in the parking lot of our apt complex. It was like spending the entire day listening to a chainsaw and leaf blower

:grr:

I managed to get rid of it - I commented to the owners that if any of these kids wipe out on the apartment property they could feasibly sue the owners.

I'm so evil I love it. Hell there is a park just across the street - take them there
