Chick-fil-A Lovers Camp Out All Night To Get 52 Free Combo Meals
<snip>

Cody DeSanta was positively joyful.

"I love chicken. I love chicken," the northeast Phoenix 18-year-old said, crossing his arms in earnest.

If there was a happening place to be Wednesday evening, it was at the tent he and his friends had set up in the parking lot of the new Chick-fil-A restaurant on Tatum Boulevard south of Cactus Road.

DeSanta, an Arizona State University business major, had planted himself in front of the store, hoping to be one of the first 100 customers to walk through the door Thursday morning. The first 100 were each rewarded with 52 free combo meals. DeSanta made it.

Company officials started taking names Wednesday evening; the catch was that no one could leave the parking lot. Participants brought large tents, pup tents, sleeping bags and folding chairs to wait out the night. Many also brought the creature comforts of home: televisions to watch DVDs and boom boxes to hear their favorite songs to pass the hours. A DJ also set up on the lot.

The company passed out free food and held an ice cream social at midnight. When the doors opened at 6:30 a.m., Chick-fil-A spokesman Phillip Perlman said, 132 passed through. It wasn't a loss for those in the 101 to 132nd position. They got a chance to win free food for a year as well.

1. It's the pickle
Oh sure you could make a great chicken breast and then decide to stick it between the cheapest buns you can find (my one great BBQ pet peeve) but the pickle man THE PICKLE that is a stroke of genius!!!

4. The main Chick-fil-a sandwich
is a basic seedless hamburger/BBQ bun
a really great chicken breast (boneless of course but not processed mush like fingers or McNuggets)
and

two pickle slices

That's it. That is your multi-million dollar fast food chain mainstay. They also have pretty good fries. Mostly in malls but they branched out into brick and mortar stand alone places a few years ago.

Really good-for fast food.

5. McDonald's has been test-marketing their own version
It beat ChickFilA's (slightly) in taste tests, and fared a bit better in fat grams etc.

8. You should make the pilgrimage to the original Dwarf House in Hapeville, GA
I have to overlook the whole "fundy organization" because it's that good. Damn them for not opening on Sundays! That's usually the only time I crave the lemonade!!!!!!!!

6. Just FYI: Chick-Fil-A is a fundie company.
I'm not saying you shouldn't eat there.

(Well, I encourage being a vegetarian, but that's a separate issue).

But, I know that there has been an element here that likes to know the socio-political stance of companies, and Chick-Fil-A is about as red as you can get, from what I understand.

edited to add:

Chick-fil-A and Focus on the Family also have a history of cross-promotion. Chick-fil-A has also sponsored meetings by the group All Pro Dad; All Pro Dad is a group with affiliations with Focus on the Family via a group called Family First; Family First promotes a large number of conservative religious causes, including covenant marriage.
